Formula for Success Group began with our own family.

Scholarship hunting became a shared mission in our home as we helped our daughter pursue opportunities to fund her education. What started as a way to reduce the cost of college became something much bigger. Through research, organization, consistency, strong storytelling, and a true family effort, she earned more than $300,000 in outside scholarships.

That journey taught us something we now share with every family we serve.

Scholarship hunting is a family affair.

We learned that scholarship success is not simply about having the highest GPA, applying to hundreds of opportunities, or hoping the right scholarship finds you. It is about understanding the process, recognizing what makes a student competitive, building a strong portfolio over time, finding opportunities that truly fit, and learning how to communicate a student's story in a way that stands out.

Those lessons became the foundation of Formula for Success Group, launched in January 2023.

What began with one family's scholarship journey has grown into a community of students and families learning how to approach educational funding with greater strategy, organization, and confidence. Today, Formula for Success clients have collectively earned more than $3.7 million in scholarships. Behind every dollar is a student who applied, a family that supported the process, and an opportunity that helped make education more attainable.

Formula for Success is more than a place to find scholarship leads. We educate, equip, and empower families to understand the entire scholarship process. Through coaching, membership resources, workshops, scholarship research, application strategy, essay guidance, portfolio development, and ongoing support, families learn how to create a system they can continue using throughout high school, college, graduate school, and beyond.

We also work to challenge one of the biggest misconceptions surrounding scholarships. Scholarships are not only for straight A students, star athletes, or families facing extreme financial hardship. There is no single profile of a scholarship winner. Students bring different experiences, talents, interests, challenges, leadership stories, service, goals, and strengths to the table. Our work is helping families recognize those strengths and learn how to show, not simply tell, why a student belongs in the applicant pool.

At the heart of everything we do is family partnership. Parents do not have to complete applications for their students, but they can help create structure, track deadlines, locate opportunities, encourage consistency, and keep the process moving. Students, in turn, learn to take ownership of their stories, accomplishments, goals, and future.

At Formula for Success Group, we believe scholarship success is built long before an application is submitted.

Our philosophy is rooted in preparation, strategy, authenticity, and consistency. Scholarship hunting should not be treated as a last-minute activity or something that begins only when a student reaches senior year. The strongest applicants are continually building experiences, documenting accomplishments, strengthening their portfolios, and preparing to tell their stories well.

We believe in fit over volume. Applying for more scholarships does not automatically lead to better results. Students should focus on opportunities that align with their experiences, interests, goals, service, leadership, and qualifications. A thoughtful application to the right scholarship can be far more powerful than submitting dozens of generic applications.

We also believe students should never underestimate the value of their own story. Scholarship committees are not simply reviewing grades and resumes. They are trying to understand the person behind the application. Strong applications do more than list accomplishments. They show growth, impact, character, purpose, and potential.

Preparation and organization matter. A strong scholarship portfolio, updated resume, documented service, polished personal story, and organized tracking system allow students to respond to opportunities with greater confidence and less stress.

Consistency is equally important. Scholarship season is year-round, and results do not always come immediately. A quiet season does not mean the process is not working. Students must continue applying, learning, improving, and positioning themselves for the opportunities ahead.

Most importantly, we believe students should take ownership of the process. Our role is not to create a scholarship winner. Our role is to help students recognize what they already bring to the table and learn how to present it effectively.

Prepare early. Apply strategically. Tell your story authentically. Stay consistent.

We promise to be transparent. We will never guarantee a scholarship award or suggest that success can be promised. What we can promise is preparation, strategy, guidance, accountability, and support throughout the process.

We promise to keep learning. The scholarship landscape continues to evolve, and Formula for Success will continue to grow with it. We will refine our resources, strengthen our systems, and remain committed to giving families relevant and useful support.

We promise to create a community where progress matters. We will celebrate the scholarship wins, but we will also recognize the work that happens before the award, including stronger essays, better organization, increased confidence, improved applications, and students learning to advocate for themselves.

Most of all, we promise to care about the journey, not just the outcome.
